Both operators offer occasional trips along The Garden Route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and from Pretoria to Durban. The problems in Zimbabwe have reduced the schedule to Victoria Falls provided by Rovos Rail who also run an annual journey to Dar es Salaam via the falls. Rovos Rail also combines a rail trip from Pretoria to Polokwane (Pietersburg) via the area adjacent to the Kruger Park. They then provide an air transfer with vintage, beautifully restored aircraft to Victoria Falls. A service is also provided from Pretoria to Windhoek in Namibia. The age of steam has, sadly, long passed in South Africa but Rovos Rail is a luxurious train, hauled initially by steam locomotive.
