Day 1-5
Begin your journey by flying to Cape Town and driving 30 minutes to stay at Glen Avon Lodge which is set in the leafy, exclusive suburb of Constantia. Here you will find some of the oldest wineries in South Africa dating back to the 1680s. The lodge is just a 25 minute drive to the centre of Cape Town and Table Mountain and in the other direction around an hour’s drive to Cape Point. Glen Avon is a 5 star boutique hotel and is consistently one of South Africa Sun client’s favourites in Cape Town.
Day 6
After a sumptuous breakfast, you will drive 2 1/2 hours to the sleepy town of Swellendam. This is the third oldest town in South Africa and is spectacularly situated at the foot of an impressive mountain range. Here you will stay at The Hideaway which is consistently highly rated and has become an icon in the South African travel industry. this is a small, 4 room B&B but noted for its charming surroundings in the historic centre.
Day 7-10
After an overnight stay, you will drive 4 hours along excellent roads where the scenery just seems to get more impressive by the mile. You will stay at Fynbos Ridge which is a beautiful boutique B&B set amidst its own private nature reserve. At certain times of the year, the location is a blaze of colour as the unique Proteas bloom. In this location you will have time to explore the many superb beaches, visit the timeless beauty of the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park, visit Oudshoorn to see the centre of the Ostrich industry or just enjoy the many wonderful restaurants and wineries in this area.
Day 11-14
You will complete by taking a 3 1/2 hour drive to Lalibela Private Game Reserve. Here you will see the ‘Big Five’ and many other animals in the natural surroundings of this impressive reserve. Accommodation is in comfortable thatched cottages and is quoted on an all inclusive basis. The reserve has three lodges including one with luxury tents. This is a family run enterprise and we are always impressed by the wonderful service and the expert knowledge of the rangers.
To end your stay it is an easy 1 hour drive to Port Elizabeth airport to catch a flight to Cape Town to connect with your overnight flight back home.
