Banyan Tree is a luxurious resort built on a property originally owned by George Harrison of The Beatles and comedian, Peter Sellers. The individual huts are exceptionally luxurious and very private. You enter through an outside door into your own private domain complete with a large swimming pool and jacuzzi. A covered gazebo allows you to relax in the shade over looking your pool and there is also a day bed which is also used for in room spa treatments. The rooms are large and very well appointed with king beds and an office area just in case you have to contact home!  The bathroom is large and complimentary soaps, gels and lotions are of the highest quality. Each room has its own pathway to the beach. Although all beaches in the Seychelles are public, you have your own loungers on the sand. It is also possible to have kayaks provided for you. Food is provided in three first class restaurants. This is a large resort and a buggy is provided to take you from your hut to other parts of the hotel.

About the Location

Intendance Bay is exceptionally beautiful but the sea at one end can be rough with a significant undertow. Banyan Tree is located at the far end of Mahe Island from the capital, Victoria. It is approximately a 45 minute drive from the international airport. The property has significant historical connections with George Harrison. It was here where he composed his first solo album. By the side of the wetlands dedicated to his memory, there are frequent performances of his first album by excellent local musicians. Ecology is very important to the resort and they grow much of the vegetables used in their restaurants – all organically produced. There is a fascinating Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. The resort has full spa facilities with a great yoga c entre, a central infinity pool and all manner of water sports can be arranged. Above all, this is a must destination for a romantic honeymoon or for any couple who wish a private, romantic location with full services.
